The compact all-electric crossover will start at around $31,000 with 221 miles of range.
Quick Summary:

- Range & Battery Options: Choose between a 58.3-kWh battery (221 miles) on the Light FWD or an 81.4-kWh pack (321 miles) on the Wind FWD; optional AWD drops total range by 41 miles.

The demand for cheap battery electric vehicles (BEVs and often just called EVs) has continued to rise despite the end of federal tax incentives. Both Slate and Ford have introduced two cheap EV pickups that start at the $30,000 mark or less and now, after its debut at the 2026 New York Auto Show, Kia has announced pricing on its 2027 EV3. With a starting price of just above $31,000, will it hit the sweet spot for those searching for an inexpensive electric crossover?
Segment Pricing: Gas Parity & Seltos Comparison
Key Specs: $31,385 Base MSRP | 105.5-inch Wheelbase | 169.3-inch Overall Length

For those looking for an EV for cheap, the $31,385 MSRP that Kia is offering the 2027 EV3 Light FWD is very close to price parity for a gas-powered crossover with roughly the same interior space. With 40.0 inches front and 37.6 inches rear headroom, the non-sunroof version of the EV3 nearly matches the same specification as the 2027 Seltos LX FWD that starts at $26,485.
They both also share nearly the same wheelbase of around 106 inches (105.5 for the EV3, 105.9 for the Seltos), but the 169.3-inch long EV3 has a shorter overall length than the Seltos by 5.1 inches. The difference mostly comes from the 2.2-inch shorter front and 2.6-inch shorter rear overhang.
Cargo Capacity: Compact Footprint vs. Practical Volume
Key Specs: 26.1 cu-ft Rear Cargo | 0.9 cu-ft Frunk | 56.5 cu-ft Max Cargo

But the Seltos does offer a larger cargo space over the EV3, offering 27.8 cu-ft behind the second row seats versus the 26.1 cu-ft for the EV3 when its seats are in their upright position and the luggage board is in its lower position. Fold the second row down and you’ll still have 7.7 cu-ft more cargo volume over the 56.5 cu-ft in the smaller EV. The one advantage that the EV3 has over the Seltos is that the all-electric Kia has a frunk with 0.9 cu-ft of volume.
Battery & Charging: NACS Port and 350-kW Fast Charging
Key Specs: 58.3-kWh and 81.4-kWh Packs | 221–321 Mile Range | 350-kW DC Fast Charge

But the important factor to think about with the 2027 Kia EV3 is its range. The base-level Light FWD trim will offer you 221 miles out of its 58.3-kWh battery pack. Stepping up to the Wind FWD will cost you an extra $5,100 over the Light FWD and get you an 81.4-kWh battery pack that’s good for the maximum 321 miles out of a full charge. AWD will also be an available option for the EV3 for the Wind and Land and standard on the GT-Line and GT, but that will drop the range by 41 miles as compared to the FWD versions as those models retain the same 81.4-kWh pack capacity.
240V AC Home Charging and V2H Bidirectional Tech
The good news for all trims is that the 2027 EV3 is capable of DC Fast Charging up to 350-kW and comes standard with a North American Charger Standard (NACS or known as the “Tesla charger”) port. This will allow the Light FWD to charge from 10-80 percent charge in just 29 minutes and the larger battery pack in the Wind and up to charge in 31 minutes. If you have access to a 240V, 48A AC charger at home (and where you should do most of your daily charging), it will take just over 5 hours to charge the Light and 7 hours for the Wind and up trims. The 2027 EV3 is also capable of vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) functionality, but both require additional equipment like the Wallbox bidirectional charging system.
Standard Equipment: Dual Displays, SynTex Trim, and i-Pedal 3.0
Key Specs: Dual 12.3-inch Screens | 17-inch Wheels | i-Pedal 3.0 One-Pedal Drive

What do you get for the $31,385 MSRP for the 2027 Kia EV3? For starters, it will come standard with LED headlights with high beam assist and riding on 17-inch aluminum wheels. The outside front door handles on the Light FWD are manual flush and the rear are hidden. The Wind and up trims will get pop-out front door handles. Exterior trim on the Light and Wind will be finished in satin chrome with black wheel arches as other trims will get body-painted or gunmetal colored and the GT-Line and GT will get gloss black wheel arches.
Inside, a fabric trim roof is standard for the Light and Wind trims whereas a cloth trim is optional on the Wind and standard on the Land and up. The standard two-spoke steering wheel on the Light, Wind, and Land trims will use SynTex material with two-tone coloring but the GT-Line will get a three-spoke two-tone and the GT will get the same wheel as the GT-Line but with a neon green accent. Manual front seats are standard on the Light and the Wind and above will get powered seats with driver’s side lumbar support. The GT-Line and GT passenger seats will come standard with lumbar support, as well as 10-way power adjustments.

And for a vehicle that starts at the $31,000 mark, the 2027 Kia EV3 will come standard with digital screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment and are 12.3 inches. The infotainment system will also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with 3 front and 2 rear USB C ports for your devices. Dual-zone climate is standard and controlled by a five-inch touchscreen panel between the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen.
Standard safety features include forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist turning detection, lane keep assist, blind-spot assist, and dynamic cruise control with highway driving assist. Finally, all 2027 Kia EV3s will come with i-Pedal 3.0 that allows drivers to drive and stop using only the accelerator pedal. This will not only work in tandem with the EV3’s smart regeneration system (that also captures energy when the brakes are used), but will also revert to the last setting it was set to when you restart your EV3. In older models, this setting was lost and you had to constantly reset it back to your preferred regenerative curve. This new i-Pedal system will also work in reverse just as it does when driving in forward.
