Created in 1966, the Toyota Corolla has become an icon and will celebrate that achievement with a 60th anniversary edition.
Quick Summary:
- Since 1966: Although the Corolla only arrived in U.S. showrooms in 1968, the iconic Toyota compact has been on sale since 1966 in Japan.
- Celebrating 60 Years: To celebrate the milestone, Toyota will introduce a 2027 Corolla 60th Anniversary edition based on the Hybrid SE and limited to 2,500 units.
- Starts at $24,620: Toyota announced all other variants of the 2027 Corolla Sedan with a starting price of $24,620 for the base LE trim.
- A Hybrid AWD for $27,870: For drivers seeking a compact hybrid sedan with all-wheel drive, the 2027 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD starts under $30,000.
It is hard to imagine any modern nameplate remaining on sale for 60 consecutive years, but the Toyota Corolla has done just that. Toyota has sold every generation of the Corolla in the U.S. since 1968. To celebrate this milestone, the 2027 Corolla receives a 60th Anniversary Special Edition limited to just 2,500 units. Beyond the special edition, Toyota also released full pricing for the 2027 Corolla Sedan lineup, which continues to start under $25,000.
2027 Toyota Corolla Pricing Starts at $24,620
Key Facts: Starts at $24,620 | 2027 pricing up just $500 over 2026 | Hybrid LE AWD starts at $27,870

Finding a new car with a year-over-year price bump of only a few hundred dollars is rare, but Toyota achieved that for the 2027 Corolla Sedan. From the gas-only LE to the Hybrid SE AWD, the MSRP increases by just $500 across the lineup. That figure includes a $100 increase in the delivery fee, rising from $1,195 to $1,295 for 2027. What makes this modest price adjustment even more impressive is the manufacturing logistics: Toyota builds gas-only models at Toyota Mississippi in Blue Springs, whereas all hybrid models are imported from the Takaoka Plant in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
At the entry point, the 2027 Toyota Corolla Sedan starts at $24,620 for the base LE trim. It features a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Dynamic Force inline-four engine producing 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It will not break any acceleration records, but the front-wheel-drive LE returns an EPA-estimated 32 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined using a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
2027 Corolla Hybrid Starts at $25,175
Key Facts: 138 hp combined output | AWD available | 53 mpg city, 50 mpg combined
Buyers looking for electrification can step into the Hybrid LE FWD starting at $25,175. It pairs a 1.8-liter inline-four engine with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5). Unlike the 2.0-liter gas model, the hybrid engine connects to an electronically controlled CVT (eCVT). Rather than relying on belts and pulleys, the gas engine and electric motor channel power through planetary gearsets, delivering power directly to the front wheels. This setup produces 138 hp and achieves an estimated 53/46/50 mpg.
Drivers who want an all-wheel-drive hybrid will not need to stretch their budgets much further, as the 2027 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD starts at $27,870. It uses the same engine and motor package as the FWD version, but Toyota adds a dedicated rear electric motor to power the rear axle. This provides on-demand all-wheel traction without requiring a mechanical power-takeoff unit or a traditional driveshaft. Toyota has not officially published the AWD hybrid figures for 2027 yet, but because the FWD and gas-only ratings carry over unchanged from 2026, expect the AWD model to maintain its previous 51/44/48 mpg rating.
